the envelope/gold derby che Hugh per un pelo nn ha presentato la cerimonia degli Emmy!!! che quest'anno per chi ancora nn lo sa se la cucca Fox (e in Italia si vedrà sicuramente su Jimmy dalle due di notte di domenica 16 settembre (quindi lunedi) però non escludo che la stessa fox Italia.. comunque sicuramente il red carpet lo si potrà seguire su E! canale 114 di sky domenica 16 settembre a partire dalle 22)

Fox Network came this close to naming someone other than "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest as host of the Emmycast on Sept. 16: Hugh Laurie.
Laurie was actually the early first choice of several top Fox exex, who lobbied strongly for him to get the job, according to a TV academy source. Others tubthumped for Seacrest, who's a logical choice since he already hosts America's most popular regular TV program plus specials like New Year's Eve countdowns. The standoff at the network was to blame for any host being named so late. Last year Conan O'Brien's appointment was unveiled in mid-May — three months before the Seacrest announcement this year.
In the end, Fox decided to go with its "Idol" star over its "House" star because exex felt Seacrest would draw a larger TV audience and because viewers might be confused seeing Laurie in an unfamiliar role.
But Laurie, in fact, is an accomplished entertainer beyond just that Doctor Grouch act you see on "House." He's a darn good pianist, for one thing. He performs in a few bands — 16:9 and Poor White Trash — and tickles the ivories in the "House" episode he submitted to Emmy judges in the race for best drama actor, "Half-Wit."
But most noteworthy of all are the wild performances he gave on "A Bit of Fry and Laurie," the outrageous comedy sketch show he did between 1986 and 1995 with Steven Fry on the BBC.
In pratica: prima di scegliere il (solito) Ryan Seacrest (quindi chi presenta il red carpet con la Depandi quest'anno??), presentatore di "American Idol", Fox aveva in mente un altro nome: Hugh Laurie. A quanto pare, molti produttori esecutivi della fox erano d'accordo, e anci, avevano fatto di tutto perchè accettasse, anche in accordo con l'accademia delal TV. Altri però avevano puntato su Seacrest, che già aveva presentato altri eventi simili. Lo staff ha subito molte critiche per il ritardo nell'annuncio del nome, perchè lo scorso anno Conan O'Brian (ce lo ricordiamo) venne annunciato a metà maggio, vale a dire quasi tre mesi prima rispetto a Seacrest. Alla fine la fox ha deciso per RS perchè "avrebbe portato più ascolto e inoltre la gente si sarebbe confusa a vedere HL in un ruolo così innaturale".
A dire il vero HL oltre che recitare la parte del DR Scorbutico è anche un pianista rifinito, si esibisce con la BFTv e altre, oltre che in "half wit"
episodio che è stato sottoposto alla giuria degli Emmy (che gli ha valso la nominations (almeno secondo queste fonti). ha dato il meglio di sè comunque soprattutto come comico, con ABOFAL, serie di sketches andata in onda fra il 1986 e 1il 1995..
